Surf Instructor – Surf Coach Full Time

Job Description:

We are seeking potential surf instructors at our San Clemente, California Location who are friendly, outgoing, patient, enthusiastic, responsible and want to share their passion for the sport with others. Looking for candidates who enjoy working with people in an outdoor environment. Must be reliable and have good organisation and communication skills. Previous teaching experience is a plus. Good knowledge of the ocean and strong surfing skills are required. Applications must be over 18 years of age.

Certifications:

Current  CPR/First Aid and Lifesaving. Recommended: ISA Surf Coaching Certificate or equivalent. Background checks are required for all instructors and counselors.

Hours:

Must be able to commit to the months of June – September.  Monday thru Friday 8 a.m. – 3:00 p.m

Expectations of Surf Instructors:

• Facilitate surf instruction for a group 3-5 students in a safe manner. Responsible for organising your students equipment each morning, re-evaluating your students progress each day and for their safety thru the day. The goal is to help them progress their skills thru the week, Not just get them standing on the board.
• Help organise and prepare and maintain equipment(load/unload surfboards, food, set up tents, clean camp, etc.)
• Show up on time and ready to work, Communicate, in a timely manner,  if running late or can’t make it to work
• Always Keep an eye on your students and other’s students in the water watching them to see if they are safe and staying out of trouble in the surf zone and in the shore break. Safety first.
• When not surfing organise volleyball games and other activities with students at beach and at base camp.
• Be outgoing (talkative), friendly, helpful, and courteous to all surf camp students, parents and staff.
• Maintain energy thru the day and season so you have enough energy to look after your students
• Have Fun, Enjoy the experience, and make these new surfers dreams come true.
