We are looking for a Chef to take over our restaurant and team and turn it into something extraordinary. starting November till April.
The restaurant is already serving some great food, beach food for lunch and more upmarket Pan Asian food in the evenings. We are now looking for a chef who can come in and really put us on the map in the area. The hotel is ten bedrooms and was voted recently as one of the best hotels in Sri Lanka by Conde Nast Traveller.
Applicants have to have experience running a kitchen. We have six kitchen staff in the open kitchen and looking for someone to put their own mark on the menus and the food that we serve.
The hotel has its own 1/4 acre vegetable garden and access to great produce from the local area. We are right on the beach so fish is readily available.
There are two surf breaks within minutes of the hotel Hririkitiya and Unakaruwa. Applicant would not be expected to work in the mornings so surfing daily Is a possibility.
Overall responsibility for the kitchen’s daily operations.
Liaising with the relevant companies for food orders.
Creating new dishes and menus.
Maintaining/raising the food’s profit margins.
Monitoring and controlling stock levels.
Be able to cook top class and interesting food.
Must have previous experience in managing kitchen and staff
Excellent cooking skills and understanding of produce and ingredients
Ability to work under pressure in a busy environment
Passion for working in the kitchen and food quality
Attention to detail
Friendly and approachable personality
Team leading and leadership skills
Must speak English
