The Wave is the first inland-surfing destination of its kind, where people of all ages, backgrounds and abilities can experience the joy of surfing and its many physical and mental health benefits. But it’s not just about surfing. It’s about getting back to nature, improving health and well-being, connecting with other people, enjoying great food and drink, and having a load of fun in the process!
But we don’t just offer surfing! In 2021 we introduced The Camp; 25 beautiful safari style tents located just meters from the Waves accommodating up to 8 guests each which we are looking to expand on for 2022 and beyond. Guests and Surfers can also hang out in our Clubhouse which serves up an all-day menu, grab a takeaway from one of our pop ups set in the grounds or restock their gear in our amazing retail store.
We are looking for a full-time, seasonal Accommodation Supervisor at The Wave. In this role, you will help in the running of our on-site accommodation. Working with the Customer Experience Manager to ensure the smooth running of 25 safari style tents which can host up to 8 guests at once. You will ensure the accommodation team are working together to provide an amazing customer experience with each visit. You will achieve this by helping to lead the hardworking team who carry out the day-to-day operations. This will include:
Ensuring check in and out days run smoothly, and the accommodation and on-site cleaning team are where they need to be and completing tasks in a timely manner
Liaising with linen and laundry suppliers to keep stock levels under control
Checking and preparing inventories for all units
Training of new accommodation and on-site cleaning team members
Helping to develop, coach and motivate the team, recognising top performers
People management tasks such as participating in appraisals and team 1:1s, helping with rota completion and time sheet approval
Championing of Wavemaker values to your team, as well as upholding the highest levels of customer service and health and safety approach
Our facilities are spread out over our 72 acre site, this means your role will include a good amount of walking! You’ll need to be prepared outside a lot of the time due to the nature of our Accommodation (The Camp). Wavemaker coats will be provided of course!
Health and safety is super important to us and we will train you to have great working knowledge of all things health and safety and provide you with the resources to ensure your team are also trained and compliant.
As a wavemaker at Supervisor level you will be carrying out duty management shifts and taking a control role in major or minor incidents. Escalating issues where appropriate and having the ability to be able to problem solve and think on your feet is essential!
Our Wavemakers have a strong attention to detail, are amazing communicators and have great people skills. Camp site /seasonal experience is preferred for this role, but it is not essential – however a rolled-up sleeves approach and a can-do attitude is a must!
