Senior Surf Writer needed for online magazine Part Time

Are you an experienced surfer? Are you tuned into surf culture and trends? Do you love writing and blogging?

If you answered yes to these questions, then read on.

We are seeking excellent writers to contribute articles on a regular basis to surfd.com – an online surf mag that has been running since 2003. You’ll be covering a wide range of topics, including how-to posts, surf product review posts, interviews, question posts and more.

What’s in it for you? 

Consistent writing work in the form of 2-3 thorough posts per week (1,000 – 3,000+). As the site continues to grow, you’ll have the opportunity to write more. In the beginning, we’ll provide you with a topic and a brief outline for each piece so that you can focus on writing. However, we welcome your ideas and encourage you to propose articles that you know people will love.

As part of the role, there is potential for you to:

• Receive product samples from leading surf brands
• Interview pro surfers, artists, photographers, musicians and other personalities from the world of surfing
• Write articles that inform and educate the surf community
• Cover events with media access

A successful partnership will lead to increased opportunities within our small team. For example, if you have an interest in managing our social channels and reviewing the quality of other writing submitted to the site, the opportunities are there to expand your role.

Requirements

• Must have at least 3+ years of writing experience
• Must have multiple examples of your writing and include links to them
• Must be native English speaking or equivalent level
• All articles need to be informative, researched, original and appropriately linked to your resources. Filler content will not be accepted.
• Able to pick up unfinished articles and complete them
• Use Grammarly or similar tools to ensure all writing is error-free and grammatically correct – we don’t have the resources to edit and review every article
• Willingness to check other articles for mistakes – as needed

Highly regarded skills

• Knowledge of SEO best practice
• Able to use WordPress
• Experience or interest in reviewing products
• Ability to record video product reviews
