Teach Surfing in Kauai! Full Time

Hawaiian Style Surfing is seeking the best surf instructors to join our team on beautiful Kauai, Hawaii.  If you’ve ever wanted to combine your passion for surfing with helping others learn how to surf and be a part of an awesome team, and live in a surfer’s paradise, we want to hear from you!

Instructors need to be patient, dependable, good with kids and capable of teaching our lessons in a fun, engaging and informative way. This is very much a hospitality job and first and foremost is to provide exceptional guest service to all of our students.

We are hiring for full time positions to work 5 days a week with 2 guaranteed days off each week.
Start immediately!

REQUIREMENTS:

• Must be at least 18 years of age
• Must be able to legally work in the USA
• Strong Swimming Skills
• Current CPR/First Aid Certification and Lifesaving Skills (Or willing to get certified)
• Knowledge of how to perform basic equipment repair and maintenance

BONUS if you:

• Have 2+ years of experience teaching
• ISA Certified
• Lifeguard Experience or Certifications

EXPECTATIONS of Surf Instructors:

• Facilitate surf instruction for Groups (max 4) Semi-Private (max 2) and Private Lessons
• Responsible to organize your students equipment prior to each lesson and to properly clean and put away after each lesson.
• Have reliable method of transportation to make it ON TIME to work each day scheduled
• Always keep an eye on your students and other’s students and/or swimmers in the water. Watch them to see if they are safe and staying out of trouble in the surf zone and in the shore break. SAFETY FIRST!
• When not teaching lessons it is expected surf instructors help patrol the beach for safety of swimmers. Engage with beachgoers to talk about surfing and encourage them to come for a pool demo. Conduct demonstrations and encourage guests to sign up for a lesson with you!
• Be outgoing (talkative), friendly, helpful and courteous to all students, colleagues and resort staff.
• Maintain energy throughout the day so you can properly look after your students.
• HAVE FUN! Truly enjoy the experience and make these new surfer dreams come true of catching a wave!

PAY:
Daily pay minimum, plus commissions per/student above and beyond minimum pay. Only limited by what you can do!

DURATION:
We are a year round surf school and can provide hours year round. We do work on holidays. MUST be available to work June – September, December 15-January 15 (No time off requests)
