New in the local island of Thulusdhoo, we opened a surf school, a surf shop and café. Our activities: surf school, surf guiding, physical training, yoga/pilate, surf shop and café. Vakaru surf school offered surf classes of high quality, personalised and individual classes, surf physical training, theory video feedbacks classes for all levels of surfers.
Our location
The school is located on the beach of Thulusdhoo, North Male atoll, at 30 mn in speed boat from the city Male. It’s a paradisiac island with pristine white sand beaches and turquoise lagoon, where surfers can ride waves of very good quality as Cokes and Chicken surf breaks. Close by you can find the famous surf breaks of Sultan, Jail, Honkeys, Ninjas, Pasta Point, Lois…
Maldives ‘s surf spots have become one of the favourites for wave riders of varying skill and experience.

Minimum qualifications for position:
Be eligible to stay 6 months in Thulusdhoo island
Surf qualifications at a recognised educational institution, e.g. ISA, ASI
Lifeguard qualifications
Good working level in English
Minimum of 2 years’ experience teaching surf
Have a valid travel insurance
The desire to live in Maldivian culture
Filming and video analyse

You will be assisting in our surf shop and café if we don’t have surf class.

Primary Functions
Provide an outstanding, safe, and educational experience to students on land and in the water
Explain and demonstrate proper surfing techniques and equipment care
Prepare customers for a safe experience by providing thorough introductions to equipment and safety requirements
Perform equipment inspections and complete preventative maintenance projects
Monitor changing weather and ocean conditions and make appropriate decisions to ensure safety of students, staff, and other water users
Accurately document and organise class related paperwork
Prepare and clean up classroom, materials, and equipment
Maintain strong communication with other instructional staff and management
Reports maintenance problems and/or broken and unsafe equipment to the appropriate party immediately

One day and a half off per week
