Surf Instructor – Professional Coaching at Playa Guanico Part Time

We are looking for a certified and experienced Surf Instructor to join our team as both a surf coach and surf school manager in Playa Guanico, Panama. This peaceful village on the southern Pacific coast is known for its long, uncrowded beach, consistent waves, and quiet, tropical setting — ideal for focused surf progression and a simple, connected lifestyle.

You’ll be based at El Ranchito Surfcamp, a small, family-run surf camp with a welcoming homestay atmosphere. Surrounded by lush gardens and local culture, our camp emphasizes personal growth, community, and quality surf instruction. Our surf program is built on the French surf education system, combining structure and professionalism with fun. We focus on real progress through well-designed lessons that include ocean safety, technique, and individual feedback.

This position runs from December through March (minimum commitment), with the possibility of extension.

In addition to teaching, this role includes managing surfboard rentals, supporting daily surf school operations, and taking videos/photos during lessons for feedback and video analysis. You must be comfortable teaching all levels and especially young children, with a focus on safety, fun, and steady improvement.

Key Responsibilities:

• Deliver surf lessons using our methodology
• Teach students of all levels, starting from age 5
• Lead warm-ups, land drills, and in-water instruction
• Manage surfboard rentals and assist in surf school logistics
• Take photos and videos during lessons; lead video feedback sessions
• Track student progress and provide constructive coaching
• Maintain a safe, professional, and positive atmosphere

Requirements:

• Minimum 2 years of surf teaching experience
• Certified Surf Instructor (ISA, BSA, BEES, or equivalent – required)
• First aid and CPR certified
• Fluent in English (required)
• Spanish, French, and German are a strong plus
• Experience teaching young children
• Strong organizational and communication skills
• Ocean rescue or lifeguard certification is a bonus
• Willing to complete a short internal training to follow our French-based methodology
