Resort Manager (Individual or Management Couple) – Salani Surf Resort, Samoa
Location: Upolu, Samoa
Commitment: Ideally 6–12 months.
Management couples should be looking for a longer-term opportunity.
Live and Work in Samoa
Salani Surf Resort is an owner-operated surf resort on the beautiful south coast of Upolu, Samoa.
As one of the longest-established surf resorts on the island, we welcome surfers, families and travellers from around the world who come to experience world-class waves, authentic Samoan hospitality and the unique culture of Polynesia.
We’re currently looking for an enthusiastic individual or management couple to take responsibility for the day-to-day running of the resort.
This is more than a hospitality role, it’s an opportunity to become part of a close-knit local community, lead a dedicated team, and help create unforgettable experiences for our guests.
The Role
This is a hands-on management position with genuine responsibility and autonomy.
You’ll oversee the daily operation of the resort, lead and support our local staff, ensure guests receive exceptional service, coordinate reservations and logistics, and maintain the welcoming atmosphere that keeps guests returning year after year.
No two days are the same. Some days you’ll be welcoming new guests, others you’ll be solving operational challenges, assisting with maintenance, organising transport, supporting the team or simply making sure everything runs smoothly behind the scenes.
We’re looking for someone who enjoys taking ownership, leading by example and making a real difference.
Who We’re Looking For
Essential:
Fluent English, Samoan a huge plus
Previous experience in hospitality, tourism, hotel, lodge or resort management
Excellent guest service and communication skills
Strong leadership and team management abilities
Organised, proactive and able to work independently
Honest, reliable and trustworthy
Confident making decisions and solving problems
Comfortable living and working in a remote island environment
Highly Desirable:
Manual driving licence
First Aid qualification
Administration, reservations and computer skills
Bonus Skills:
Surf lifesaving, lifeguarding or water safety experience
Scuba diving experience or certification
Photography, videography or social media skills
Practical maintenance or DIY experience
Life in Samoa:
Life in Samoa is incredibly rewarding, but it’s different from working in a city or large resort.
Island life requires patience, adaptability and initiative. Resources can be limited, plans occasionally change, and you’ll often find yourself wearing many different hats. The people who thrive here are those who enjoy solving problems, embracing new experiences and becoming part of the local community.
This is a live-in management position rather than a standard 9-to-5 role. While you’ll have the opportunity to enjoy the incredible surf, coastline and relaxed island lifestyle, you’ll also take ownership of the daily operation of the resort and help ensure both guests and staff have the best possible experience.
What’s Included:
Private accommodation
All meals provided
Competitive salary
The opportunity to live and work in one of the South Pacific’s most beautiful destinations
World-class surf and outdoor lifestyle
A supportive local team
Genuine responsibility and autonomy
We’re ideally seeking applicants who are interested in making a meaningful commitment. Management couples should be able to commit to a longer-term position, helping provide continuity for the resort, our team and our guests.
How to Apply:
If you’re looking for a unique management opportunity and think you’d be a great fit, we’d love to hear from you.
Please send:
A short introduction about yourself (or yourselves)
Your current location
Your availability to start
Your CV and any relevant qualifications or certifications
Shortlisted applicants will be contacted by the owner to arrange an informal video interview.
We look forward to hearing from you and welcoming the right people to Salani Surf Resort.
