Head Surf Coach – Ahangama, Sri Lanka Full Time

We’re searching for an experienced Head Surf Coach to come to join our team at Global surf!

As a Head Surf Coach, you will lead the surf department at our Global surf Lodge, coach and inspire a team of others coaches, as well as conducting theory lessons, video & Picture analysis, and getting your hands and feet wet in the role as a surf coach.

The mission is to place Global surf as a premier surf retreat worldwide providing a great guest experience and a one of a kind level of surf coaching incorporating progression and fun at the same time. It is important for us that every one of our clients will experience an improvement process, yet fun and empowering.
We are expecting you to be energetic and result-driven, be a good team player and lead by example. You must be able to lead, coach, inspire, support and motivate your team, and always seeking to improve best practice. The workload can get big, with lots of pressure. You are expected to be a leader for your team and guests and handle critical situations calmly and professional showing that you are in control.

Your surf and coaching experience are an inspiration to our guests and team of surf coaches, who you’ll help to train and progress in their own surfing as well as their teaching methods. Our vision is that the lead surf coach will get to a point where we have smooth operations and he can mainly fine tune surf program and have fun, inspire and empower gussets. As a surfer you are living and breathing it, you’re an ocean lover and your lifestyle allows you to spend most of your time in and around the ocean which is what you love the most.

You are an experienced surfer how can surf various surfboards, and draw different lines, however, you must be inspired by teaching beginners and intermediates, as this is the level of the majority of our guests. You must be a responsible surfer, and take precautions to keep all guests safe at all times, even when they are under your team responsibility.

You are a surfer! And interested in the technical aspects of surfing as well as the philosophy and lifestyle.

You must be a great presenter and not be afraid of standing in front of people, as well the ability to explain the technical aspects of surfing, ranging from someone that has never surfed before through to experienced surfers, in a fun and interactive way.

You will need to work from the computer to reply to emails, and access booking systems to plan ahead for the coming weeks and months courses, as well handling bookings for surf lessons sold at the site, allocate the coaches accordingly to cover those lessons.

Requirements:

• Fluent in English – speaking, and writing
• ISA or similar surf teaching certificate
• Minimum 6 months stay
• Work experience of surf coaching – a minimum of 5 years
• A good surfer
• Interpersonal and leadership skills
• Team player
• Computer skills (email, office, etc..)
