We are looking for a friendly, reliable and independent volunteer to join us at Omassim Guesthouse for our Christmas & New Year Yoga Retreat.

Omassim is a small yoga, vegetarian and surf guesthouse located in a peaceful village near Ericeira, Portugal, surrounded by nature and close to the Atlantic Ocean.

Winter at Omassim is a special time. It is a wonderful place for someone who enjoys their own company, loves the ocean, wants to surf, explore the beautiful coastline or simply spend some quiet time away from the busyness of everyday life.

Our retreat takes place from 22 December to 2 January, but you are welcome to arrive earlier, from 15 December, and stay until 5 January, giving you more time to enjoy the area.

What we need help with
Your main task will be washing dishes and keeping the kitchen area clean and tidy after meals.

We have two alternating shifts:

Morning: 9:30 – 12:30
Evening: 19:00 – approximately 22:00 (until everything is finished)
Depending on your shift, there will be a few additional small tasks:

Picking up fresh bread from the supermarket by bicycle in the morning (around 10 minutes by bike)
Setting up the sun loungers in the morning and putting them away in the evening
Taking our lovely Labrador, Chocolate, for a good one-hour walk in the evening
The work is practical and straightforward. We appreciate someone who is responsible, flexible and happy to be part of our small team.

Working hours & time off
During our Christmas & New Year Retreat (22 December – 2 January), we work together as a team, and your help will be needed every day. There are no regular days off during this period.

To balance this, you are very welcome to arrive earlier, from 15 December, and stay until 5 January, giving you extra time to relax, explore the beautiful surroundings, go surfing or simply enjoy the peaceful atmosphere of Omassim without daily work commitments.

What we offer
Free accommodation in a simple private room with a shared bathroom
All vegetarian meals included
Free use of our facilities: yoga shala, gym, living room, dining area, garden, saltwater pool, sauna and ice bath
Time to explore the beautiful coastline, enjoy nature and discover the surf around Ericeira
Please note: Surf lessons and surf equipment are not included in the work exchange, as we collaborate with an independent surf school.

A little more about Omassim
Omassim is not a party hostel. It is a warm, welcoming and peaceful guesthouse where people come to practise yoga, surf, enjoy delicious plant-based food and slow down.

We believe this opportunity is especially suitable for someone who feels comfortable spending time alone, appreciates a simple lifestyle and enjoys the quieter winter atmosphere by the ocean.

We can only accommodate one volunteer, so unfortunately we cannot accept couples or two friends travelling together.
